The Surprise HMS model ship is based on the real ship the Surprise, which gained fame in 1799 when Captain Hamilton, in a daring cutting-out expedition in the middle of the night, ordered six boats from the Surprise to recapture the boat Hermione from the Spaniards who had mutineered her and brought her into Puerto Cabello.  The Hermione was recaptured and towed safely out to sea.  Contact us now for more information on our Surprise HMS model ship.
