HMS Model Ships

The Model Shipyard has a variety of hand crafted HMS model ships to offer hobbyists and shipbuilding enthusiasts. Their experience and expertise in the model ship market enable them to part with valuable information and advice to all their potential clients.

Model Shipyard stocks the following HMS model ships for you to choose from:

  • HMS Agamemnon: This particular model ship was designed from the original ship plans that are kept at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. This ship was utilised in the Royal Navy and had 64 guns on board. She was first launched in 1781 and ran aground in 1809 in the mouth of River Plate. The remains and a number of artefacts have since been recovered.
  • HMS Beagle: This was a Cherokee classed ship that was used in the Royal Navy. She was first launched in 1820 and was later the first ship to sail under the London Bridge during a celebration for the coronation of King George IV. Charles Darwin used this ship during his works and turned her into one of history’s most famous ships!
  • HMS Endeavor: This was an English barque ship and is the famous ship about which Captain Cook made the remark “No sea can hurt her”. In 1768 this ship was used for scientific investigation and exploration. She was used to observe the transit of Venus across the sun. She was also the ship being used when Captain Cook developed a method to calculate longitude position with accuracy. This particular model ship has a long and colourful history behind it.
  • HMS Serapes: This model ship is based on the British frigate ship that was launched by the Royal Navy in 1779. During the American Revolutionary War, she was captured by the Americans. She was armed with 44 guns and said to carry an additional 6 guns during this war. In 1781 the ship was lost off the coast of Madagascar after a sailor accidentally dropped a lantern into brandy and it went down in flames.
