An HMS Bounty Model From The Model Shipyard Is Worth The WaitThe HMS Bounty was a coal merchant ship from England. The HMS Bounty model that we make at The Model Shipyard is a splendid replica of the original. We replicate models ships exactly and down to the finest detail; our models do not merely approximate the grand old ladies of the sea. Our HMS Bounty model is an example of such a grand old lady with a colourful and storied past. The ship was sent on a mission to Tahiti to collect sapling breadfruit trees to serve as food for the burgeoning British plantation workforce. She was led by Admiral William Bligh who, astonishingly, navigated the 5,800km journey in 41 days using only a sextant and pocket watch – this is considered by many to remain the greatest feat of navigation ever. However, during the five months in Tahiti, many of the crew has grown attached to the place and the people, some taking wives there. So, on the return journey, disgruntled crew took the ship, jettisoned Bligh and his supporters and settled on a little-known Tahitian island where they burned The Bounty in Bounty Bay. Our HMS Bounty model ship stays true to the features of the original, including the type of ropes and their thickness and number of knots. We make the small parts ourselves to be perfectly faithful to the original parts used and in scale. It takes weeks to complete a model ship, because it is not the work of a moment. In addition, we build to Museum Quality standards, including the certificate of authenticity and registration. The Model Shipyard’s HMS Bounty model is as splendid a recreation of a classic old seafaring lady, just as all our other models. The difference lies in our uncompromising quality. Contact us.
