Stephens & Kenau Creates The Finest Ship ModelsShip models are used as objects of art in foyers, private homes, boardrooms, lounges, studies, restaurants and executive offices where they add style and atmosphere. The fine art of building ship models has been handed down over generations and although the computer age has brought certain advances, they are still built by hand by gifted craftspeople. Stephens & Kenau™ has been a builder of top quality model ships for many years. Our model ships are very sturdily built and surfaced with the finest mahogany to endure in both humid and dry climates. We are very proud of our flawless artwork, for which we employ a full-time fine artist. All brass and metal fittings on the ship are sculpted in oversize clay and reduced to the correct scale using an old-fashioned 3D pantograph. The ornaments are then cold cast for superior detailing. The ornaments, galley windows, rails, figurehead and transom are all crafted and painted by hand. Similarly, our sails, rigging and all the other parts are faithfully reproduced as replicas of the original. It takes eight to ten weeks to finish a model ship to Museum Quality standards and if you need it as a gift, talk to us in advance so that we have a date to work toward. You will receive intermediate progress reports on how the model is progressing (including photos). You may also specify a display case that you will receive in knocked down form. We ship our models in specially designed crates to any destination in the world but we never take chances: the model is always insured. Contact Stephens & Kenau for ship models of rare distinction. |
